Last night Alabama beat LSU 21-0 in the BCS National Title Game. There was no split when the AP had Alabama #1 in their poll. Do I think this was wrong? No, but there is an asterisk. I believe this year was the ultimate year where there needed to be a split National Championship. Here is where my split went:
Alabama: They lost one game all year and they avenged that loss with a win in the National Title game. And don't believe the hype. They did not "dominate" LSU or "crush" LSU. They won a defensive game based on field position. They did win though; they beat the team that beat them. So
they share the National Title.
LSU: For them I just say ditto. All above applies. Oh and they had more top 25 wins and beat Alabama in their stadium. They deserve a split as well.
Oklahoma State: They in my opinion had the best year of all. The fiesta bowl win was necessary to get them into a piece of this title pie but they got it. Beat a great Stanford team propelled them here.
Boise State: I am convinced this team will never get a shot. Kellen Moore deserved better then a very crappy Arizona State team. They lost to a damn good TCU team. A TCU team that is better than the Iowa State team that beat Oklahoma State.
I know nobody will agree with me here. But you can't argue with this. Why bother, the BCS gives me an out every time. Until there is a playoff and teams like Oklahoma State and Boise State get left out then there is always an argument. If only LSU would have won. Hard to argue with undefeated....
