UGH sports....NBA
So I didn't post my NBA predictions. Now im not going to. I decided that 10 games in on a Lockout shorten season, its just cheating. But I'll do this. I think Miami is going to win it all this year. I see them winning at least 50 games(the only team that will) and destroying the playoffs. I don't like it. I really don't. But its what I see happening. Moving on..... NFL So I went 2-2 this weekend on playoff games. I picked Cincinnati to beat Texas, and you know what? They almost did. I know your thinking that score says otherwise but hear me out. The score was tied 10-10 win and almost half time when J.J. Watt intercepted that pass from Andy Dalton. Total game changer. If that doesn't happen game totally changes. If that drive turns into a touchdown for the Bengals? They win the game. That interception was too much for a young Bengal team to handle. But they will learn from it and get better. The Ravens and Stealers? Getting older every day. I see some good things coming from the Bengals sooner rather than later. I also picked the Falcons (yes that means I did pick the Broncos) over the Giants. And to be honest for about a quarter I felt pretty good about that pick. But the Falcons were beat.... by the Falcons. The first Quarter the Falcons D was everywhere on the Giants. They were shooting gaps, shedding blocks, and having team meeting at the ball. What happened? The Falcons offence happened. In my humble opinion the best Defense ever was the Ravens Defense from 00-04. For 5 seasons no defense was ever better. So why did they only win 1 superbowl? Their offence killed their defense. A defense can only keep up so much intensity. If the offence keeps going 3 and outs or turning the ball over the defense can sustain their energy and attack. This happened to the Falcons D against the Giants. They were playing great but they were on the field way too long. When the Giants finally took a lead it was all but over. Falcons sputter defense loses energy. Mike Mularky should have a lot of explaining to do.

11-12 NBA Season is about "Luck"This NBA season is going to be all about Luck. No not in the way that the 2012 NFL Draft will be all about Andrew Luck but in the way of the Luckiest survive. Talent is talent but then again age is age. When you have only about four months to play sixty six games health is going to be an issue. So the younger you are the healthier you are but without experience a team makes more mistakes. Injuries happen to every team and every player, but the older you are the more likely injuries will come up. So the teams that stay healthy are more likely to have more frequent and longer winning streaks. So the luckier you are with your injuries the more likely you are to win. If we look back to the strike shorten 98-99 season, where they played 50 games, you see what I mean. The Spurs had an average age of 30.0 but their go to was Tim Duncan at the ripe ole age of 23 years old. Duncan's stellar play and youthfulness energized the team and their main leadership of Avery Johnson(34) and David Robinson(33)stayed healthy throughout the season and playoffs. This is the formula you need to follow in a strike shorten season. This year not many teams I know I’m missing some teams you will say but the Lakers don't have it this year. Its not happening. And as sad as I am to say it The Celtics do not have it as well. It’s going to be good to be lucky this year. Come back next week when I make my playoff predictions! |
